Introduction V1.2 of the release [RLS] version of East Coast Mainline: North East. Following the finalisation of the Steam Workshop version of this route which will not allow any further extension, unique additions have been made for this website based version which will be the definitive version of the route and will receive regular updates. Description Originally available on the Steam Workshop, East Coast Mainline: North East is a modernisation of the original East Coast Main Line route that was included with early incarnations of Railworks and latterly Train Simulator. Depicting the period around 2013, this modernisation features a complete replacement of track, along with rationalisation where required to reflect the modern layout. The route has been completely resignalled with correct numbering and catenary has been added using the latest available tools. Older foliage has been replaced with newer variations, and the route now utilises the GEML texture set, allowing greater variation during the ongoing development. As well as the modernisation of the original 80 mile line between Newcastle and York, extensions have been added on the Tees Valley Line between Darlington and Middlesbrough, an extension between Newcastle and Swalwell Junction via MetroCentre and an extension from Newcastle to Heaton Depot, allowing a natural start/finish point for scenarios. Track has also been included on other portions of the route in anticipation of future scenery additions. Finally, a whole array of custom models have been produced and placed in the route in various locations. These include bespoke station models at Middlesbrough, Eaglescliffe, Teesside Airport & MetroCentre. There are also many new landmarks included as well as general lineside and clutter models. Some of these models are currently incomplete, and may only have basic textures, this does not detract from the enjoyment of using the route. Development of the route is ongoing and further extensions/revisions will take place in the future, along with the addition of further custom content. Requirements Although the full route package is included, it will not function without the following requirements: East Coast Main Line - http://store.steampowered.com/app/208303/ Great Eastern Main Line - http://store.steampowered.com/app/222593/ Installation If you have the Steam Workshop version of the route installed, installation of this 'RLS' version of the route will have no impact and both versions can sit side by side. If you have downloaded this pack and are already reading this, there is a good chance you have already installed the scenarios because you have already unpackaged the .rar format and revealed the .rwp. If you are still struggling, the included .rwp can be installed using the Package Manager which can be found by using "Utilities.exe" which is located in your Steam\steamapps\common\railworks directory. Alternatively, archiving programs such as WinRar on 7-Zip can open the .rwp file and the scenarios can manually be placed in your TS2014 installation. Please note that if you are uncomfortable with moving these files manually, I take no responsibility for any damage you may cause to your install if the process is not done correctly. Official installation instructions can also be found via the user manuals, located in your install at Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Manuals After installation is complete, the route should be listed in Quick Drive with a prefix of [DPS-RLS]. When overwriting an older version of the route, it may be advantageous to clear the in game cache before loading the new version for the first time. Scenarios This is currently still a by product of the workshop process, which allowed nothing other than plain Quick Drive scenarios. Therefore, the only inclusion within this package is a basic Quick Drive package between various locations on the route. Future plans do include overhauling this current situation, and revamping Quick Drive to include prototypical passing AI services as well of a set of basic scenarios to allow new users to explore the route. A scenario page does exist at DPSimulation and currently has a handful of scenarios available for this route and can be found here: http://www.dpsimulation.org.uk/scenariosecmlne.html Other sites such as UKTrainsim also feature scenarios for this route in their download library. Known Issues There are currently no passenger lofts at Dunston Station meaning passenger stops cannot be made there. Signal T235 near King Edward Bridge Sth Junction may stay at red when approaching from Dunston, depending on which route is being taken. This is under investigation. DPSimulation Established in 2008, DPSimulation are a respected and well known creator of addons for Train Simulator 2014 and the previous incarnations, Rail Simulator and Railworks. These days, DPSimulation concentrate the majority of their efforts on freeware for the community but have in the past created routes such as Newcastle to York "Modern", Bristol to Exeter and Totham for Just Trains, as well as creating numerous projects alongside the creators of the software, RailSimulator.com Initially creating content and uploading to community websites such as UKTrainsim, in 2010 DPSimulation purchased their own domain at www.dpsimulation.org.uk in order to provide an alternative resource for their own addons and those from around the community. All downloads are permanently free and high speed with no queues or reduced speeds. DPSimulation - www.dpsimulation.org.uk DPSimulation Blog - www.dpsimulation.blogspot.co.uk DPSimulation Twitter - @DPSimulation Donations Although downloads and content from DPSimulation are always free, it does not mean that we do not have weekly/monthly/yearly outgoings. Things such as a high level domain and server costs do mount up, along with the purchase of the relevant research materials and tools to create our content. We then also then have to purchase the addons we use, in this case to create the scenario packs. Although donations are not mandatory to access our content, they are always welcome, specifically to contribute towards the costs we incur in keeping a free service going, no matter how small. All donations will help support the site and addon growth, and play a large part in providing a free, high speed download service for all.
