This DVD offers an immersive driver’s-eye perspective of the Connex Expresses between Brighton and London, beginning at Wolverton with a brief look at the transformation of the Class 319 EMUs. The main journey starts at Brighton, following the 50-minute route virtually in real time and capturing the speed and efficiency of these iconic services.

At the time of filming in 1998, Connex Expresses ran non-stop from Brighton to London with just one intermediate stop at East Croydon. The trains sped through Haywards Heath, Gatwick Airport, and even Clapham Junction, providing passengers with a fast and direct link between the south coast and the capital.

Along the route, viewers are treated to historical context, including the tragic Clayton Tunnel accident, with its house above the castellated tunnel portal, and other stories from the Southern Region. These insights add depth to the journey, connecting operational footage with the rich heritage of the line.

In 1998, Connex operated two of the former Southern Region franchises, though today the company no longer runs any UK services. This DVD captures the yellow-liveried era of Connex Expresses, offering a nostalgic and informative experience for railway enthusiasts and general viewers alike.
