LNER First Class Lounge at King’s Cross to undergo major refurbishment
LNER is set to begin a major refurbishment of its First Class Lounge at London King’s Cross at the end of January 2026, aiming to deliver a more comfortable and flexible space for customers.
The redesign has been shaped by passenger feedback and will enhance the existing lounge’s popularity with additional seating, dedicated work zones, and improved privacy. Heritage-inspired décor, layered lighting, and more greenery will create a modern, welcoming environment while retaining the First Class ambience.
Other planned improvements include extra storage for luggage and pushchairs, a redesigned reception area, and relocation of the refreshments area to open up the space. The lounge’s toilet facilities will also be refurbished. Customers can continue to enjoy complimentary drinks and snacks, featuring products sourced along the LNER network once the works are completed.
During the refurbishment, which starts on 26 January 2026, the lounge will be closed to passengers. The modernised space is scheduled to reopen in spring 2026.
Colette Casey, Customer Experience Director at LNER, said:
“We recognise how much our customers enjoy using the First Class Lounge at London King’s Cross ahead of their journey. Throughout this investment, we have listened to what our customers would like from the space, and this redesign will bring some wonderful improvements that will be enjoyed by hundreds of customers every day. While there is never an ideal time to close our First Class Lounge, we hope that the refurbishment will be exciting news for our customers, and we look forward to welcoming them into our new lounge in the spring.”
