Passengers Still Facing Delays After Person Hit By Train Between Hitchin And Peterborough
Lines between Stevenage and Peterborough have reopened after emergency services completed their work following an earlier incident in which a person was hit by a train.
Services are now beginning to recover, but passengers are still being warned to expect disruption while train movements return to normal.
Trains through the affected section may continue to be delayed by up to 30 minutes, revised or cancelled.
The earlier incident caused all lines to be blocked between Hitchin and Peterborough while emergency services attended.
Thameslink earlier said:
“It is with great sadness that we report a person has been hit by a train between Hitchin and Peterborough. All lines are blocked between these stations whilst the emergency services work to deal with this incident.”
A wide range of ticket acceptance and alternative travel arrangements remains in place with Hull Trains, Grand Central, LNER, Lumo and Thameslink.
Passengers are being reminded that these arrangements may be changed or withdrawn at short notice as services recover, and should check with their operator before travelling.
Disruption is currently expected to continue until 19:00.
