Person Dies After Being Hit By Train At Norwood Junction

A person has died after being struck by a train at Norwood Junction station in Croydon.

Emergency services were called to the South Norwood station at around 8.45pm on Monday, February 23, following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Despite the efforts of paramedics, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene. No details regarding their age or gender have been released.

British Transport Police confirmed the death is not being treated as suspicious. A file is now being prepared for the coroner ahead of a formal inquest.

The incident led to the suspension of Southern and Thameslink services between East Croydon and London Bridge for several hours while officers and medical teams dealt with the situation. Train services resumed their normal timetable at approximately 12.30am.

A spokesperson for BTP said:

"Officers were called at around 8.45pm on Monday, February 23 to reports of a casualty on the tracks at Norwood Junction railway station. Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
