Police release CCTV image after racial abuse incident on Blackburn train
Detectives have released a CCTV image as part of an investigation into a racial abuse incident on a train in Lancashire, appealing for the public’s help to identify a woman they believe could assist with enquiries.
The incident took place at 8:37am on Wednesday 1 April on a service travelling between Blackburn railway station and Mill Hill railway station.
According to officers, a member of staff asked a passenger to present her ticket, but she refused to provide any details and became verbally abusive. As she left the train, she is reported to have directed racially abusive language towards the staff member.
The appeal has been issued by the British Transport Police, with investigators stating the woman shown in the image may have information that could help progress the case.
Anyone who recognises the individual is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 166 of 1 April.
