American Truck Simulator: Iowa

The Iowa DLC for American Truck Simulator was developed and published by SCS Software. It was released in July 2025 and is available for Windows, adding the entire state of Iowa to the game’s expanding map. This expansion fits seamlessly into the existing network of states, allowing players to explore new roads and cities in the Midwest region of the United States.

The DLC features twelve detailed cities, including Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, Dubuque, and Iowa City, as well as more than fifteen smaller towns and settlements. The map highlights key landmarks such as the Iowa State Capitol, historic covered bridges, and unique roadside attractions like the "Tree in the Middle of the Road." The landscape captures the state’s agricultural roots with sprawling grain bins and rolling hills, providing players with a distinctive driving environment.

Gameplay in the Iowa expansion focuses on industries that reflect the state’s real-world economy, such as agriculture, ethanol production, aluminum manufacturing, and river port logistics. New depots include agricultural factories, ethanol plants, and an aluminum factory, along with the largest truck stop ever featured in the game, located along Interstate 80. The terrain offers scenic routes with terraced fields and rural vistas that create a fresh experience compared to other regions in the game.

Promotion for the DLC included teaser blog posts, gameplay livestreams, and a cinematic trailer leading up to the July release date. After launch, SCS Software organized a community event encouraging players to complete deliveries across Iowa for special rewards like unique paint jobs and cabin charms. The DLC was warmly received, with players and critics praising its authentic representation of Iowa, its scenic beauty, and the variety of new challenges it brought to the game.
