Chinese Frontiers is a historical building and survival simulator developed by SolidGames and published by Big Cheese Studio. It was released on June 19, 2025, and is available exclusively on Windows PC. SolidGames, a small Polish studio founded in 2021, developed the game over four years with a team of 25 professionals experienced in architecture and art. Chinese Frontiers is their debut project, aiming to provide an immersive experience set in medieval China.

Set during the construction of the Great Wall of China, Chinese Frontiers allows players to manage a village, gather resources, assign tasks to NPCs, and develop production chains to supply the monumental project. The game features a detailed building process where players can craft tools, plane wood, carve stone, cast metal, and assemble machines. The immersive landscapes include deserts, mountains, and forests, each offering unique challenges and resources that require strategic planning and management.

Promotion for Chinese Frontiers included the release of a prologue in May 2023, allowing players to experience a portion of the game before its full launch. The developers shared regular updates through developer logs, highlighting daily routines, tools, animations, and construction materials. Additionally, a demo was released in June 2025 to provide players with an early look at the building, management, and cultural aspects of the game.

Upon its full release, Chinese Frontiers received mostly positive reviews. Players praised its realistic graphics, detailed narrative, and immersive gameplay. Many appreciated the game’s focus on multitasking and the ability to manage multiple aspects of village life simultaneously. However, some noted that the game could be challenging for newcomers due to its complex systems and limited tutorials, which required players to learn through trial and error.

The game is currently available exclusively on Windows PC, with no announced plans for console ports. This exclusivity allows the developers to focus on optimizing the game for the platform and responding to player feedback. The team has committed to ongoing updates and improvements, aiming to refine gameplay mechanics, enhance realism, and address community suggestions.

In summary, Chinese Frontiers offers a unique blend of historical simulation, resource management, and survival elements. While it presents challenges for new players, its depth, attention to detail, and immersive recreation of medieval China provide a rewarding experience. With continued support and updates, it has the potential to become a standout title in the simulation genre.
