Christmas Eve Trains 2019
A near normal service will operate for most of the day on most routes during 24th December 2019 but most routes will start to wind down services for an early finish, typically at around 8pm. Please check your travel plans.
Christmas Day Trains 2019
No services are scheduled to run on 25th December 2019.
Boxing Day Trains 2019
A very limited train service will be available on 26th December 2019. Services running are as follows:
Chiltern Railways Boxing Day Timetable
A special service of two trains per hour in each direction will operate over the following route, between approximately 08:00 and 20:00:
London Marylebone - Gerrards Cross - Beaconsfield - High Wycombe - Princes Risborough - Haddenham & Thame Parkway - Bicester Village - Oxford Parkway.

Greater Anglia Boxing Day Timetable
Greater Anglia will operate their Stansted Express service on 26th December 2019 with a half hourly Tottenham Hale to Stansted Airport service. Due to track renewal work between Liverpool Street, Stratford and Tottenham Hale, this half hourly Stansted Express services will operate between Tottenham Hale and Stansted Airport only.
London Overground Boxing Day Timetable
London Overground will operate a partial service on 26th December 2019. Trains will run between Highbury & Islington and West Croydon (06:30-22:45) and Clapham Junction and Hackney Wick (09:00-22:00). Rail replacement buses run between Hackney Wick and Stratford (09:00-22:00).
Merseyrail Boxing Day Timetable
A special service will operate on Merseyrail between 09:00 and 19:00 on Boxing Day, calling at selected stations across the Merseyrail network. To view more information about Merseyrail Boxing Day services, click here.
Northern Boxing Day Timetable
Northern will run a limited Boxing Day service between Skipton and Bradford, Ilkley and Bradford and Bolton and Salford Central.

Scotrail Boxing Day Timetable
Scotrail will run a revised Boxing Day service on a select number of routes, with the start of service commencing at approximately 09:00. The routes are as follows:
- Glasgow Central - Ayr / Ardrossan Harbour / Largs / Gourock / Wemyss Bay / Paisley Canal / Newton / Neilston / East Kilbride / Kilmarnock / Stranraer / Shotts / Lanark / Cumbernauld / Croy / Anniesland
- Kilmarnock - Girvan
- Milngavie - Cumbernauld / Motherwell
- Dalmuir - Motherwell (via Yoker & Whifflet) / Whifflet (via Yoker) / Larkhall (via Singer) / Cumbernauld (via Yoker)
- Larkhall - Milngavie
- Balloch - Airdrie (via Singer)
- Dumbarton Central - Springburn
- Helensburgh Central - Bathgate (via Singer)

Southern Rail Boxing Day Timetable
Southern will run a revised Boxing Day service on the following routes. London Victoria and Brighton via Gatwick Airport, London Victoria and Three Bridges via Gatwick Airport, London Victoria and Sutton via Selhurst and West Croydon and London Victoria and East Croydon via Crystal Palace.
New Years Eve Trains 2019

New Years Day Trains 2020
An amended train service will run on many routes on 1st January 2020. These amendments are shown below, please note that Caledonian Sleeper and Grand Central will run no service on this day.
Avanti West Coast New Years Day Timetable
Due to engineering work most services between London Euston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh will not run between Crewe and Preston. A limited train service will run between London Euston and Glasgow Central, diverted via Manchester Piccadilly.
Buses will be provided between Crewe, Warrington Bank Quay, Wigan North Western and Preston.
Caledonian Sleeper New Years Day Timetable
No service
c2c New Years Day Timetable
c2c will run a special Bank Holiday service on 1st January 2020, although there will be a normal service on the Basildon, Ockendon and Rainham lines.

Chiltern Railways New Years Day Timetable
Chiltern Railways will run an amended Sunday timetable. In addition to this, late-night engineering works in the Haddenham & Thame Parkway area mean that the line between Princes Risborough and Bicester is closed after 23.50.

CrossCountry New Years Day Timetable
CrossCountry intend to operate a near normal service on 1st January 2020. Please check before travelling.
East Midlands Railway New Years Day Timetable
East Midlands Railway will operate an amended service on all routes. Route improvement work will be taking place affecting services to and from London St Pancras International. A heavily amended timetable will operate on this route with a large number of trains being cancelled. Trains will run between London St Pancras International and Bedford, and between Market Harborough and Nottingham, Derby, Sheffield and Leeds. A replacement bus service will run between Bedford and Market Harborough. Buses will replace trains between Kettering and Corby.
Gatwick Express New Years Day Timetable
Gatwick Express will run an amended service on 1st January 2010 with a reduced timetable. Please check before travelling.
Grand Central Trains New Years Day Timetable
No service.
Great Western Railway New Years Day Timetable
Great Western Railway will run an amended service on 1st January 2020, details are as follows:
The first train services of the day will start up later than usual on most routes. Trains between London Paddington and Swansea will run between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway and then restart from Cardiff Central. Trains between Bath Spa/Chippenham and London Paddington have a reduced service operating. Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour will start/terminate at Bristol Parkway instead of Cardiff Central. Trains between Cardiff Central and Taunton will start/terminate at Bristol Parkway instead of Cardiff Central.
Rail replacement buses will operate between Bristol Parkway and Newport (fast, plus calling at Patchway and Severn Tunnel Junction), Bristol Parkway and Cardiff Central (fast) and Newport and Cardiff Central.
Greater Anglia New Years Day Timetable
Greater Anglia will run an amended Sunday service on 1st January 2020, details are as follows:
Due to the renewal of points at Colchester, all lines will be closed through the station. The following changes will apply:
- Between Norwich / Ipswich and London buses will replace trains between Ipswich and Marks Tey.
- Clacton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze services will start from / terminate at Colchester Town. Buses will replace trains between Hythe and Marks Tey for passengers travelling to / from London.
- Passengers travelling to / from stations on the Harwich branch to / from London will have a rail replacement bus service between Marks Tey and Manningtree.
Due to overhead line work in the Wickford area, buses will replace trains between Shenfield and Southend Victoria, and between Wickford and Southminster all day.
Great Northern New Years Day Timetable
Great Northern will run a Sunday service on 1st January 2020.
Heathrow Express New Years Day Timetable
Heathrow Express intend to operate a near normal service on 1st January 2020. Please check before travelling.
Island Line New Years Day Timetable
Island Line will run a Sunday service on 1st January 2020.
LNER New Years Day Timetable
LNER will operate a revised timetable on 1st January 2020 where services will start up later than a normal weekday. Some services will be cancelled and others will start up from other stations. The first services to and from London King’s Cross will be:
Northbound
- 08.00 to Edinburgh Waverley
- 08.03 to Leeds
Southbound
- 07.15 from Leeds*
- 06.55 from Newcastle
- 05.48 from Edinburgh Waverley
*Subject to approval
Throughout the day, LNER are unable to operate north or west of Edinburgh. Services to and from Aberdeen, Inverness and Glasgow Central will start from and terminate at Edinburgh Waverley.
London Overground New Years Day Timetable
London Overground will operate a revised timetable on 1st January 2020 with the following restrictions:
- Sunday service between Romford and Upminster
- Saturday service on all other routes
- Sunday start time
- No service between Hackney Downs and Enfield Town/Cheshunt (via Seven Sisters) after 22:45
London Northwestern Railway New Years Day Timetable
London Northwestern Railway will run a Sunday service on 1st January 2020 with some services starting later than normal.
Merseyrail New Years Day Timetable
Merseyrail will run a Sunday service on 1st January 2020.
Northern Rail New Years Day Timetable
Northern will operate an amended timetable on 1st January 2020. There will be no Northern service all day on routes in the Tyne Tees region. On other Northern routes, some early morning trains will not run, or will start from a station further down the line. If you want intend to travel before 08:00 please check before you travel.
Scotrail New Years Day Timetable
No service.
South Western Railway New Years Day Timetable
South Western Railway will run a Sunday service on 1st January 2020 with some services starting later than normal.
Southeastern New Years Day Timetable
South Western Railway will run a Sunday service on 1st January 2020 with some services being replaced by buses due to engineering work. Please check before you travel.
Southern Rail New Years Day Timetable
Southern will run an amended service on 1st January 2020. Please check before you travel.
Stansted Express New Years Day Timetable
Stansted Express will run an amended Sunday timetable on 1st January 2020. Please check before you travel.
TfL Rail New Years Day Timetable
TfL Rail will run an amended timetable on 1st January 2020, details are as follows:
- Trains will run every 30 minutes between London Paddington and Reading
- Trains will run every 30 minutes between London Paddington, Hayes & Harlington and Heathrow Airport.
- Trains will run every 10 minutes between London Liverpool Street and Shenfield.
Thameslink New Years Day Timetable
Thameslink will run a Sunday service on 1st January 2020 with some services being amended due to engineering work. Please check before you travel.
Transpennine Express New Years Day Timetable
Transpennine Express intend to operate a near normal service on 1st January 2020 with certain amendments due to engineering work. Please check before travelling.
Transport for Wales New Years Day Timetable
TfW Rail will run an amended timetable on 1st January 2020, details are as follows:
Engineering work is taking place between Severn Tunnel Junction and Bridgend. As a result a rail replacement bus service will run between:
- Cardiff Central – Ebbw Vale Town
- Bridgend – Cardiff Central – Newport – Cwmbran
- Cardiff Central – Cheltenham Spa
- A rail replacement bus service will run between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly.
West Midlands Railway New Years Day Timetable
