The DCS: C-130J DLC for DCS World was developed by Airplane Simulation Company in collaboration with Eagle Dynamics SA, the latter also acting as publisher. It was officially released on 27 November 2025 and is distributed as a module for the base DCS World game. As with all modules, you must own DCS World in order to use the C‑130J DLC.

The DLC brings the iconic four‑engine turboprop transport aircraft, the Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules, into DCS World with high-fidelity systems and features. This includes a fully modelled cargo bay which is walkable in both VR and desktop modes, realistic modelling of engines, avionics, fuel, hydraulic, electrical and APU systems, and accurate flight dynamics intended to reflect the real aircraft’s performance. The module supports multi‑crew gameplay, enabling two players (with a third crew slot planned post-launch) to operate it together. Unique gameplay elements include realistic cargo operations, aerial delivery and airdrops — including heavy equipment and even the capability to deploy significant ordnance — turning the C‑130J into a full-scale tactical transport and support asset.

Promotion of the DLC began with a pre‑order campaign announced in August 2025, highlighting the C‑130J as “the world’s celebrated tactical transporter” and emphasising its versatility — from humanitarian aid drops to combat resupply and heavy-lift operations. Marketing materials underlined the module’s fidelity to real-world systems, its fully interactive cockpit and cargo bay, and support for multi‑crew and logistics-centric missions. The pre-release blurb described the potential to fly low-level tactical runs, conduct precision airdrops of cargo or heavy equipment, and even deliver large ordnance — positioning the C‑130J as a landmark addition for players seeking more than just air combat.

Reception of the module has been cautiously optimistic. Early feedback acknowledges the ambition behind bringing a heavy transport aircraft — with interactive cargo operations and multi‑crew support — into a combat‑oriented simulator. Some testers and players note that the new mechanics introduce fresh gameplay dimensions beyond air-to-air and air-to-ground combat, especially when it comes to logistical support, transport, and mission variety. However, as with many large, complex modules in DCS, there have also been reports of issues tied to integration — for example some multiplayer airdrop and cargo‑drop bugs — which the developers are working to address. Overall, many in the community appreciate the depth and scope of what the C‑130J adds to DCS World, seeing it as a significant step towards more versatile air‑mission possibilities.
