Firefighting Simulator: Ignite is developed by weltenbauer Software Entwicklung GmbH and published by Astragon Entertainment. It was released on September 9, 2025. The game is available on PC, and also on modern consoles including PlayStation and Xbox platforms. There are multiple editions available, including a “Year 1” edition with additional content (such as season pass content and DLC packs) for players wanting more.

Gameplay in Ignite puts players in the boots of a firefighter in a U.S. fire department, facing unpredictably dangerous situations: blazing buildings, trapped civilians, electric fires, grease fires, flashovers and explosions, among other hazards. Players can work alone with AI teammates, or co-operate with up to three friends in multiplayer. Missions often require using the right tools — hoses, axes, saws, halligan bars, extinguishers — picking the proper extinguishing agents, dealing with smoke, heat, collapsing structures, and taking strategic precautions like ventilating buildings or managing fire spread. Between missions, there is a fire station hub where the player inspects vehicles, sets gear, and prepares for missions.

This title is a sequel of sorts to Firefighting Simulator: The Squad. It continues the firefighting simulation tradition of the series while introducing more advanced tech, more elaborate visuals and physics, and wider mission variety. Compared to The Squad, Ignite emphasizes more immersion in fire behavior, smoke, destructible or collapsible structures, realism of firefighting tools, complexity in environmental hazards, and richer co-operative gameplay.

The promotion for Ignite leaned heavily on showcasing graphics, realism, and cooperative play. It was shown off in events and game showcases, with trailers highlighting realistic fire and smoke behavior, authentic tools and fire vehicles, and the various dangers firefighters face. After launch, it received “Very Positive” user review ratings on PC. Critics generally praised its fire effects, immersive setups, and the way it balances simulation with approachable gameplay. Some criticism centred on occasional bugs, AI teammate behaviour, repeated or stiff animations, or polish issues, but overall it appears to have been well received, especially among fans of firefighting and first-responder simulations.
