Monster Truck Championship is a motorsport simulation game developed by Teyon and published by Nacon. It was officially released on October 15, 2020, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a Nintendo Switch version following on November 19, 2020. The game was later made available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, offering enhanced performance and visuals for next-gen consoles. As one of the few dedicated monster truck simulators on the market, Monster Truck Championship aimed to deliver a realistic and technical driving experience rather than arcade-style spectacle.

The game features 16 customizable monster trucks and 25 arenas spread across various U.S. locations. Players can compete in multiple event types, including freestyle, race, destruction, time attack, and online multiplayer. A core component of the game is its physics-based handling, which requires mastery of independent front and rear wheel control, suspension dynamics, and throttle modulation. The Career Mode allows players to manage their team, upgrade their trucks, and climb the ranks through three competitive leagues, culminating in the Monster Truck Finals.

Promotion for Monster Truck Championship focused on its simulation approach and authenticity. Trailers and gameplay footage highlighted the realistic vehicle physics, detailed truck models, and the variety of event types. Nacon emphasized that the game was designed for players who wanted a more grounded and skill-based monster truck experience. Pre-order bonuses, such as the exclusive “Patriot” truck driven by Sergeant Chaos, were used to generate early interest, and the game was featured in digital storefronts and motorsport gaming communities.

Reception to Monster Truck Championship was mixed to positive. Players and critics praised the game’s commitment to realistic handling and its departure from exaggerated arcade mechanics. The customization options and variety of events were well received, though some noted that the graphics and presentation were modest compared to other racing titles. The Nintendo Switch version, in particular, was criticized for performance limitations. Despite these drawbacks, the game was appreciated for filling a niche in the racing genre and offering a fresh take on monster truck competition.

Monster Truck Championship carved out a space for itself by focusing on technical driving and simulation rather than spectacle. Its multi-platform release ensured accessibility for a broad audience, and its structured Career Mode added depth to the gameplay. While not without flaws, the game succeeded in delivering a unique motorsport experience that appealed to fans of monster trucks and vehicle physics. Teyon’s approach to realism and Nacon’s support helped establish the title as a respectable entry in the off-road racing category.
