Pompeii: The Legacy is developed and published by Siscia Games, an independent studio handling both creation and distribution. It entered Early Access on 23 September 2025, allowing the developer to refine the game with player feedback while maintaining full creative control. The title blends city-building, management, and historical simulation, with a focus on rebuilding the ancient city of Pompeii.

At launch, Pompeii: The Legacy is available exclusively on Windows PC via Steam. A dedicated Early Access version allows players to experience the game while it is still under development. No console editions or additional platform releases have been announced, keeping the focus on the PC audience and ongoing development within Early Access.

Players take on the role of a Roman family head tasked with restoring Pompeii twenty years after the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Gameplay combines city-building, resource management, political maneuvering, trade, and optional real-time battles. Players construct housing, temples, and arenas, manage citizens’ needs, navigate social hierarchies, establish trade routes across the Roman Empire, and respond to disasters such as earthquakes, fires, and plagues. Research and development systems allow players to advance their city and family legacy through technology and philosophy.

Promotion of the game included public playtests ahead of Early Access launch, as well as preview events to give players early insight into the mechanics and setting. The developer emphasised community involvement, encouraging feedback to shape the development process. Press coverage highlighted the historical setting and unique premise of rebuilding Pompeii, helping to generate early interest among strategy and city-building fans.

Reception so far has been positive, with early players praising the concept, engaging city-building loop, and depth of historical simulation. Some reviews note minor bugs and unfinished systems, typical for an Early Access release, but overall feedback recognises the ambition of the project and the care taken in recreating Pompeii’s legacy. The game is seen as a promising and immersive city-building experience with a strong foundation for future updates.
