Surviving Mars: Relaunched is a remastered edition of the original Surviving Mars, developed by Haemimont Games and published by Paradox Interactive. The Relaunched version was officially released on 10 November 2025. It revives the award-winning sci-fi city-building game with modern enhancements, while retaining its core identity of colonizing the Red Planet.

The remaster is available on multiple platforms: PC (via Steam, Epic Games Store, and Microsoft Store), as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. This marks the debut of Surviving Mars on current-gen consoles in a fully updated form. The Relaunched edition bundles together everything from the original game’s complete catalogue of expansions — major DLC, cosmetic packs, and radio stations — into one definitive experience.

Gameplay in Surviving Mars: Relaunched revolves around building and managing a human colony on Mars. Players must guide their colonists through harsh environments, building infrastructure to provide oxygen, water, food, and power. You set up domes, research new technologies, manage transportation, and handle randomized “Mysteries” that add narrative surprises. The remaster also introduces a new political layer — the Martian Assembly — where different factions within the colony debate, pass laws, and vie for influence, giving players meaningful governance choices.

Promotion for the Relaunched edition leaned heavily into its comprehensive nature, emphasizing that it includes all past DLC and features improved visuals, a refreshed user interface, and modern quality-of-life improvements. Paradox rolled out a series of developer diaries and video highlights leading up to launch, spotlighting the new political system and the reinvigorated experience for both returning players and newcomers. They also offered a special upgrade path for owners of the original Surviving Mars, making it clear this was intended as both a celebration and a definitive edition of the game.

Reception has been mixed. Many long-time fans and critics have praised the overhaul — the updated graphics, the deeper political mechanics, and the fact that all DLC is consolidated. However, some players argue that while the changes are welcome, they don’t fundamentally alter the experience, calling parts of the new political layer underwhelming or poorly balanced. Despite these critiques, many view Relaunched as a strong foundation for future expansions and a compelling re-entry point for new colonists.
