The Sims 4: Get Famous

The Get Famous expansion pack for The Sims 4 was developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, released in 2018. It arrived as a major expansion that added celebrity-focused gameplay and a new destination for Sims pursuing fame, requiring the base game to play.

The pack introduces the ability for Sims to pursue stardom through a dedicated acting career, influencer-type fame mechanics, and reputation-driven perks that change how other Sims react to a celebrity. It adds the new world of Del Sol Valley with themed neighbourhoods and landmarks, acting-related activities such as auditions and studio lots, celebrity-only interactions and objects, luxury build items and unique rewards that let players craft over-the-top lifestyles and red-carpet moments for their Sims.

Promotion for Get Famous used Electronic Arts’ and Maxis’ usual marketing channels, including cinematic and gameplay trailers, social media reveals and developer livestreams that showcased Del Sol Valley, acting mechanics and celebrity perks. The publisher and studio worked with community creators and influencers to demonstrate fame progression, show off luxury builds and fashion, and highlight the new roleplay opportunities the expansion offered.

Reception was mixed among players and critics, with many praising the thematic depth, the Del Sol Valley setting and the new ways to tell celebrity-driven stories, while others criticised repetitive or shallow mechanics in parts of the fame systems and questioned how well the expansion integrated with The Sims 4’s sandbox. Player reviews reflected a divided response, with a notable portion of users enjoying the glamour and roleplay potential while some found the expansion less mechanically deep than expected.
