The Nifty Knitting Stuff Pack for The Sims 4 was developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, released in 2020. It arrived as a smaller stuff pack that required the base game and focused on cozy, domestic activities rather than major mechanical overhauls.

The pack introduced knitting as a new craft, allowing Sims to create wearable knitted clothing, toys and decorative items, and added the Plopsy online marketplace where Sims can list and sell their handmade goods. It also included new rocking chair interactions and a range of build/buy assets that supported a handcrafted, cottagecore aesthetic and expanded intergenerational play by enabling activities usable by children through elders.

Promotion for the Nifty Knitting pack used Electronic Arts’ and Maxis’ marketing channels, featuring store pages, social posts and short gameplay showcases that highlighted the knitting interactions, the Plopsy marketplace and the new decorative items. Community creators and livestreams were used to demonstrate the crafting loop and the visual variety of knitted items, with messaging that framed the pack as a cozy, creative addition for players who enjoy domestic storytelling and customization.

Reception was mixed to positive, with many players praising the charm of the knitting mechanics, the new decorative assets and the family-friendly interactions, while some users felt the pack was narrowly focused and offered limited mechanical depth. Overall sentiment tended to favour the pack among players who appreciate slow-paced crafting, home decoration and roleplay, while others viewed it as a lightweight, theme-driven add-on rather than a major gameplay expansion.
