The Sims 4: SpongeBob’s House Kit

The “SpongeBob’s House Kit” for The Sims 4 was developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. It was released on 4 December 2025. As an official kit for The Sims 4, it is available on the same platforms as the base game — including PC (via Steam, EA App, Epic Games Store), as well as on consoles via backwards compatibility where The Sims 4 is supported. The kit requires ownership of the base game to function.

This kit allows players to recreate a version of the iconic pineapple house from SpongeBob SquarePants. With it, players get access to themed build/buy items and décor: siding, roof patterns, a “pineapple top” roof element, and sand-style floor tiles to evoke an underwater aesthetic. There are nautical-style furnishings and whimsical objects — including a diver-helmet television, a foghorn alarm clock feature, a distinctive side table, a life-raft chair, surf-and-sea inspired décor, and other furnishings matched to a SpongeBob-style living room or bedroom. This turns a Sims house into a playful homage to SpongeBob’s fictional home under the sea.

Promotion of the kit was done as part of a broader official collaboration announcement under the “Bikini Bottom Bundle,” which pairs this House Kit with the related “SpongeBob’s House Kit.” Leading up to release the publishers posted previews and marketing materials showing off the décor and build items, emphasising the whimsical and nostalgic appeal of bringing Bikini Bottom into The Sims world. The bundle was advertised as available from launch (4 December 2025) through a limited-time period. The announcement highlighted key items from the kit and marketed the crossover as a fun, light-hearted option for players seeking a bold, cartoon-style home design.

Reception among players is mixed but colourful, reflecting varied tastes. Community feedback on fan forums shows a split between those who enjoy the novelty and whimsy, finding the kit fun and imaginative, and those who view it more cynically — some disparage it as a heavy-handed branded crossover that clashes with the usual Sims aesthetic.
