The Star Wars: Journey to Batuu game pack for The Sims 4 was developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts, released in 2020. It arrived as a themed game pack requiring the base game and was marketed as a crossover experience that brings Star Wars–inspired locations, characters and activities into The Sims 4 sandbox.

The pack introduces the planet-like world of Batuu, a destination where Sims can take on mission-style gameplay and choose allegiances with the Resistance, the First Order, or the Scoundrels. New content includes themed clothing and décor, lightsaber construction and dueling, droid companions, unique social interactions and reputation-driven mission chains that unlock further rewards and encounters tied to the selected faction.

Promotion for the game pack relied on Electronic Arts’ and Maxis’ standard channels, featuring trailers, gameplay showcases and developer presentations that highlighted the themed world, lightsabers and faction missions. The pack was also demonstrated in community streams and creator showcases to illustrate how Batuu’s mission mechanics and collectible rewards work within Sim play, with marketing framing the DLC as an opportunity to tell Star Wars‑style stories inside The Sims 4.

Reception was mixed among players and critics, with some praising the novelty of the Star Wars theme, the atmosphere of the Batuu world and the collectible rewards, while others felt the mission-focused systems were relatively shallow and not always well integrated with The Sims 4’s open-ended sandbox. Many players enjoyed the cosmetic items and roleplay opportunities the pack provided, while debate continued over whether the mechanics offered enough long-term depth for the wider Sims audience.
