Alstom to Supply 55 Traxx Locomotives to Ukrainian Railways
Alstom, a global leader in sustainable mobility, has signed a deal with Ukrainian Railways to supply 55 Traxx locomotives. The contract, supported financially by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (€300 million) and the World Bank ($190 million), marks a major investment in Ukraine’s rail infrastructure.
The locomotives will be designed and built at Alstom’s Belfort facility in France, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2027. The agreement also includes training for drivers and maintenance staff, along with the supply of key spare parts, ensuring that Ukrainian Railways can operate and maintain the new fleet efficiently.
This move represents a significant step in modernising Ukraine’s railway network and expanding its capacity with environmentally-friendly and technologically advanced locomotives.
