Avanti West Coast Opens Latest Round of Community Funding
Avanti West Coast has opened applications for a fresh round of funding aimed at transforming stations and supporting community projects along its route. The latest phase of the Customer and Communities Improvement Fund invites ideas that can deliver meaningful benefits to people living and working near the West Coast Main Line, which runs from London to Scotland and North Wales.
This marks the sixth year the intercity operator has offered financial support through the scheme, which backs charitable initiatives and local organisations seeking to tackle social challenges or enhance their surroundings. Funding will be allocated over a one-year period, with applicants encouraged to focus on projects located within three miles of an Avanti-served station.
The operator is particularly interested in proposals that brighten and improve station environments, expand access to rail travel for vulnerable or isolated groups, or help forge stronger local connections. Applicants are also being asked to keep the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals in mind, reflecting the railway’s push to support inclusive communities and promote long-term sustainability.
Joanna Buckley, Community Manager at Avanti West Coast, said:
“Our Customer and Communities Improvement Fund gives those along the West Coast Main Line the opportunity to shape how the railway benefits local communities. By investing and supporting community projects, we aim to bring positive change across our route. We would love our customers, stakeholders and local groups to apply for funding, so we can help deliver initiatives that matter most to the people and places we serve.”
