Chiltern Railways to Run Rare Boxing Day Service Between London and Oxford
Chiltern Railways has announced it will run a Boxing Day service this year, giving travellers a rare opportunity to use the rail network on a day when most operators remain closed. The timetable for Friday 26 December will see two trains an hour in each direction between London Marylebone and Oxford Parkway, providing access to key shopping destinations during the post-Christmas sales.
The route includes stops at London Marylebone, Wembley Stadium, Gerrards Cross, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe, Haddenham & Thame Parkway, Bicester Village and Oxford Parkway. With retail hotspots such as Bicester Village and the London Designer Outlet at Wembley Park directly served, the service is expected to prove popular with shoppers looking to make the most of Boxing Day deals.
Michael Stewart, Commercial and Customer Strategy Director at Chiltern Railways, said:
“Chiltern customers can travel by rail between London and Oxfordshire this Boxing Day and take advantage of some great shopping destinations on our route. Two trains an hour will run in each direction between the stations and journey planners have been updated. Please check your journey as services will start and end later than usual.”
Customers are urged to plan ahead and take note of amended finishing times. The final northbound service from London Marylebone to Oxford Parkway will depart at 7.40pm. Southbound, the last train from Oxford Parkway to London Marylebone will leave at 8.07pm, followed by a final service at 8.48pm calling via Bicester Village only.
