Pay as you go travel using contactless cards and devices has been expanded across the Chiltern Railways network, with nine additional stations added to the system from Sunday 14 December.

The latest rollout builds on the introduction of contactless travel at six stations between High Wycombe and London Marylebone in July 2024. With the extension now in place, passengers can tap in and out at stations across a wider stretch of the route, reducing the need to buy tickets in advance.

The newly enabled stations are Aylesbury, Aylesbury Vale Parkway, Great Missenden, Little Kimble, Monks Risborough, Princes Risborough, Saunderton, Stoke Mandeville and Wendover.

Chiltern Railways said the move is designed to make travel quicker and more straightforward, particularly for customers making short or irregular journeys, by allowing fares to be calculated automatically at the end of the day.

Michael Stewart, Commercial and Customer Strategy Director at Chiltern Railways, said:

“Pay as you go technology offers a simpler and more convenient way of paying for journeys. I am delighted that it has been rolled out at nine additional Chiltern stations which is a huge boost for our customers.”
