Detectives Release Images Following Sexual Assault on Liverpool to St Helens Service
British Transport Police have issued an appeal for information following a reported sexual assault on a train travelling from Liverpool Lime Street to St Helens, and have released images of a man they would like to speak to as part of their investigation.
The incident is reported to have taken place at around 4.15pm on Wednesday 24 December 2025. Detectives say a woman was asleep in her seat when a man sitting opposite her sexually assaulted her. When she woke, officers say the assault continued and the man asked her inappropriate questions.
The man then left the train at St Helens station. Investigators believe he may have information that could be crucial to establishing exactly what happened and are asking for the public’s help to identify him.
Officers are urging anyone who recognises the man shown in the images, or who may have witnessed the incident, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 368 of 24 December. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
