Edge Hill points failure disrupts services to Liverpool Lime Street
A points failure at Edge Hill is earlier blocked the line towards Liverpool Lime Street, causing significant disruption. Trains to and from the station may be delayed by up to 60 minutes, cancelled, or revised. Network Rail have resolved the problem and lines have reopened. Residual disruption is still expected until at least 16.00.
During the disruption, the following arrangements apply. These could expire at any time, check with your train operator before boarding.
Avanti West Coast
Passengers whose trains are cancelled can use tickets on the two services immediately before or after their booked train.
East Midlands Railway
East Midlands Railway trains will be terminating / starting at Manchester Piccadilly or Manchester Oxford Road. Ticket acceptance is in place, please check with your operator before travelling.
London Northwestern Railway
Services may be revised to start / terminate at Liverpool South Parkway. While disruption is happening, ticket acceptance has been arranged with Merseyrail.
Northern
Ticket restrictions, including Advance and Peak tickets, have been temporarily lifted in the affected areas. Normal restrictions will return once the disruption ends.
Transport for Wales
Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on Merseyrail between Chester and Liverpool Lime Street services until the disruption is cleared.
TransPennine Express
If your train is cancelled, you can travel on any TransPennine Express, Northern, or East Midlands Railway service within two hours before or after your original booking.
Passengers are advised to check with their train operator before travelling for the latest updates.
