A section of the A4019 in Cheltenham has been shut after a lorry transporting a forklift became wedged beneath Honeybourne Railway Bridge. Images shared across social media show the vehicle firmly stuck under the structure, blocking the road in both directions.

Gloucestershire Police confirmed the closure, which is currently affecting routes near Tewkesbury Road and the High Street. Drivers have been urged to steer clear of the area while recovery efforts are arranged.

Officers were alerted shortly before 10:00 GMT, and police remain on site monitoring the situation until highways teams arrive to assist in clearing the obstruction.

In a brief statement, a police spokesperson said:

"PCSOs remain at the scene and highways colleagues will be attending in due course," adding that "Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and find alternative routes if travelling nearby."
