Detectives have issued an appeal to identify two men after an attempted robbery at a busy Essex railway station.

British Transport Police said the incident took place at Shenfield station at around 9.30pm on Saturday 22 November. Officers believe the victim was approached by two men who demanded his coat in a threatening manner.

During the confrontation, one of the men reportedly lifted his jacket to show the handle of a knife tucked into his waistband. Despite the threat, the victim was able to calm the situation, after which the two men left the station without taking anything.

Investigators have now released images of two men they wish to trace, saying they believe the individuals may hold information that could assist the ongoing inquiry.

Anyone who recognises the men is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 787 of 22 November. Information can also be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
