LNER launches festive menus and kids’ podcast for Christmas travellers
LNER is gearing up for one of the busiest periods of the year with a festive flourish, as customers travelling in the run-up to Christmas are treated to seasonal menus, onboard entertainment and a special Christmas edition of the LNER Kids Club podcast.
From today (3 December 2025), First Class passengers can enjoy a Christmas-inspired dining offering, featuring locally sourced food and drink from across the East Coast route. The festive menu includes a chef-prepared breakfast on selected trains until 19 December, with dishes crafted to bring a taste of the season to journeys home.
Among the standout additions is a Christmas Dinner croque, combining chicken breast with sage and onion stuffing and cranberry sauce, finished with béchamel and mozzarella. Lunchtime travellers can choose from options such as a vegan ‘All the trimmings’ wrap, a Boxing Day-style salad box, or a Christmas fritter salad with parsnip, infused rice and festive slaw. Sweet treats include a banana and maple dessert pot or an orange frangipane mincemeat tart.
Breakfast favourites return too, including a bacon roll and plant-based sausage sandwich, alongside a festive take on overnight oats with apple, sultanas and cinnamon. Standard Class customers won’t miss out either, with items like a ‘Pigs in Blankets’ roll available through LNER’s ‘Let’s Eat At Your Seat’ service.
Younger passengers are also being catered for through the latest episode of the LNER Kids Club podcast—recorded especially for Christmas. Hosted by Emma-Louise Amanshia and Lauren Underwood, the programme discusses festive films and Christmas markets, shares rail-themed fun facts and even delivers cracker-style jokes. It can be accessed onboard by scanning the seat-back QR code.
Sara Jenson, Hospitality Manager at LNER, said:
"Whether you’re getting in the festive spirit by tucking into a Christmas Dinner croque, or you’re travelling with children who are tuning in to Kids Club, there’s something for everyone onboard our trains this Christmas. At LNER, we take pride in providing the best experience for all our customers, and I hope we spread a bit of Christmas cheer over the festive period!"
