Man Accused of Endangering Rail Passengers at Penrhyndeudraeth Crossing
A man from Penrhyndeudraeth has appeared in court accused of putting railway passengers at risk after allegedly driving a tractor and trailer across a level crossing in front of an approaching train.
Rhodri ap Gwyn, 53, of Hafod y Wern, appeared before Caernarfon Magistrates’ Court on 8 January in connection with an incident said to have taken place at Penrhyndeudraeth railway station on 17 August last year.
He is charged with endangering the safety of a person conveyed by railway, after allegedly driving a tractor and trailer in front of an oncoming train at the level crossing without first obtaining permission to cross.
No plea was entered during the hearing.
The case has now been sent to Caernarfon Crown Court, where ap Gwyn is due to appear for a plea and trial preparation hearing on 9 February.
He was released on conditional bail pending the next stage of proceedings.
