Man Attacked by Group of Teenagers at Sunderland Station

British Transport Police detectives are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted by a large group of teenagers at Sunderland railway station.

The incident took place at around 17:45 on 25 February when several members of a group of teenagers approached the man inside the station and began harassing him. Police say the situation escalated after the victim responded to the provocation.

Investigators believe the group, made up of around 20 teenagers, then surrounded the man and began attacking him. The assault was eventually broken up when a member of station security staff intervened and separated the victim from the group.

As a result of the attack, the man suffered bruising across his body.

Detectives say they are keen to speak with anyone who was at Sunderland station at the time and may have witnessed the incident or has information that could help identify those responsible.

Police are also aware that the assault was filmed on mobile phones. Officers are urging anyone who has footage of the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
