Detectives investigating an assault on a train staff member in Yorkshire have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to.

The incident occurred at around 3.30pm on Wednesday, 15 October, on a service travelling from Bridlington to York.

According to British Transport Police (BTP), just after leaving Selby, the victim asked a man to show his ticket. When he was unable to produce one or buy a ticket, he was instructed to leave the train at the next stop, Sherburn-in-Elmet.

As the man exited the train, he allegedly punched the staff member in the face before fleeing the station. The victim sustained bruising but did not require hospital treatment.

Police believe the man in the CCTV image may have information that could assist their investigation. Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 and quoting reference 385 of 15 October. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
