Man who sent sexual message to teen on train awaits sentence after court setback
A man who admitted sending a sexual written message to a teenage girl on a train is awaiting sentencing after a court hearing was delayed due to the absence of a translator.
Ahmed Ayoub Waisi, 27, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court having pleaded guilty to communicating indecently with a 16-year-old during a rail journey between Barassie railway station and Ayr railway station.
The court heard the offence took place on April 3, 2025, when Waisi presented a sexual written communication to the girl while on board the train.
During the hearing on Tuesday, April 21, defence solicitor Glen Davis told the court that his client required a Kurdish translator, but none was available at the time.
As a result, Sheriff Michael Meehan deferred sentencing to allow for translation services to be arranged. Waisi, of Tedder Street in Aberdeen, was released on continued bail and is expected to return to court next month.
