Services in and out of Glasgow Central are facing severe disruption after damage to the overhead electric wires forced multiple lines to close. Trains are currently subject to cancellations, delays of up to an hour, or alterations, with Network Rail engineers on site assessing the damage and working to reopen as many platforms as possible. The disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

Passengers are being urged to arrange alternative travel where they can as several routes have been suspended. The following services will not operate:

• Glasgow Central – Newton via Kings Park
• Glasgow Central – Cathcart Inner Circle (via Maxwell Park)
• Glasgow Central – Cathcart Outer Circle (via Queens Park)
• Glasgow Central – Neilston
• Glasgow Central – Barrhead
• Glasgow Central – East Kilbride
• Glasgow Central – Paisley Canal

All other ScotRail routes may experience delays.

Rail replacement transport has been organised, with further vehicles requested to meet demand. Buses will operate on the following corridors:

• Glasgow Central – Newton: two provided by ARays
• Glasgow Central – East Kilbride: one provided by Exec Hire (two requested)
• Glasgow Central – Barrhead: two provided by Photoflash
• Glasgow Central – Paisley Canal: two provided by Coast to Coast
• Glasgow Central – Neilston: one provided by Photoflash (two requested)

To help keep passengers moving, tickets are being accepted at no extra cost on:

• ScotRail services via any reasonable alternative route
• McGill’s Buses across their network
• Stagecoach buses via any reasonable route
