A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a Metrolink train in Los Angeles County on Monday evening.

The incident took place around 5 p.m. on the 13000 block of Temple Avenue in Bassett, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, as reported by the Pasadena Star-News.

The eastbound train, carrying approximately 230 passengers en route to Redlands, collided with a man who has not been further identified. Officials said the incident is believed to have been accidental.

A Metrolink spokesperson told the Star-News that no passengers on the train were injured in the collision.

Train operations in the area were disrupted, with delays prompting the provision of charter buses and Uber vouchers for affected passengers. Service along the tracks resumed at roughly 8:45 p.m.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal strike.
