Person Struck by Train Closes Doncaster–Newark Northgate Line

Trains Halted After Emergency Incident Between Doncaster and Newark

Rail services between Doncaster and Newark Northgate railway station have been suspended after a person was struck by a train, with emergency services attending the scene.

LNER issued an updated via X a few minutes ago:

There is major disruption to train services running between #Retford and #Doncaster due to a person being hit by a train.

All routes through the affected section have been closed to allow teams safe access, meaning trains are unable to run in either direction. As a result, services passing through the area are being cancelled, delayed or revised.

The following routes are affected.

  • Grand Central between Sunderland / Bradford Interchange and London Kings Cross

  • LNER between Inverness / Aberdeen / Edinburgh / Newcastle / York / Harrogate / Leeds / Bradford Forster Square and London Kings Cross

Passengers are being advised to expect disruption across the route and to check before travelling, as services may not run as planned.

Limited ticket acceptance is currently in place to help passengers complete their journeys via alternative routes. However, these arrangements may change at short notice, so travellers are urged to check with their operator before setting off.

Disruption is expected to continue for the rest of the day.
