Police are urging members of the public to come forward after a man suffered a suspected stab wound in an incident linked to Liverpool Street station.

The incident unfolded shortly after 2.30pm on Saturday 31 January. A man had been drinking at a pub near the Bishopsgate entrance to Liverpool Street railway station when another customer became aggressive. In an apparent attempt to defuse the situation, the first man led the individual away from the venue to prevent matters escalating.

He later boarded an Elizabeth Line service bound for Abbey Wood. It was only once he was on the train that he realised he was bleeding, with what is believed to be a stab wound to the left side of his torso.

British Transport Police detectives are now appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen the confrontation or events leading up to it, to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 470 of 31 January. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
