Detectives from the British Transport Police (BTP) have released an e-fit image of a man they want to identify following a sexual assault at Gants Hill Underground station in August.

The incident occurred shortly before 4pm on Sunday, 17 August 2025, when a woman was sexually assaulted by a man at the station. The suspect then fled the scene, boarding a train heading towards Stratford.

Detective Sergeant Gough said:

“Unfortunately CCTV footage of the incident was unavailable in this particular case, so we are releasing an e-fit of a person we would like to speak to in connection. We believe that the man may have information which could help our investigation and urge anyone who recognises him to get in touch.”

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may recognise the man in the image or who was in the area at the time to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 349 of 17 August. Information can also be provided anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
