Police release image after alleged sexual assault on Bank Underground escalator

British Transport Police have issued an appeal after circulating an image linked to a reported sexual assault at Bank Underground station.

The incident is alleged to have taken place at about 10.15am on Thursday 27 November as a woman was travelling up the escalator towards the station exit. Investigators say she was sexually assaulted during the journey.

Officers said the woman confronted the man involved, after which he turned around and went back down the escalator.

Detectives believe the individual shown in the released image could hold information that may assist their enquiries and are keen to identify him as part of the investigation.

Anyone who recognises the man, or who has information about the incident, is urged to contact British Transport Police by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 223 of 27 November. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
