Park Lane car park, serving Darlington railway station, will be closed from 8pm on Friday, 24 October, until 6am on Monday, 27 October to accommodate coach services while essential railway upgrades are carried out. All vehicles must be removed from the car park by 8pm on Friday.

Passengers are advised that alternative long-stay parking is available at Park Place East and West, accessible from Park Place, as well as at Archer Street, East Street multi-storey (stair access only), Garden Street, Hird Street, and Kendrew Street East and West car parks.

During the weekend closure, engineering teams will deliver vital upgrades to the railway in the area, meaning no trains will operate on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October from Darlington and Leeds to York, Northallerton, and beyond. Replacement coach services and revised timetables will be in place to ensure passengers can continue to travel.

Sam MacDougall, Network Rail operations director, said: “We’re investing in vital upgrades across the area to deliver a more reliable and resilient railway for passengers. While we understand that changes to services can be disruptive, this work is essential to keep the network running safely and smoothly for years to come.”

A spokesperson for the train operating companies added: “We’re working closely with Network Rail to keep passengers on the move while this essential engineering work takes place. Replacement services and revised timetables will be in place to help people reach their destinations, and we encourage everyone to check before they travel.”
