Referendum Opens on Network Rail Pay Offer with No Redundancy Guarantee
Rail union RMT has put Network Rail’s latest pay offer of 3.8 per cent to a member referendum, recommending acceptance. The ballot affects staff working in maintenance and operations on the railway.
The proposed increase aligns with the Retail Price Index (RPI) for one year and comes with a guarantee of no compulsory redundancies. Members will now vote to decide whether to accept the offer and bring an end to the ongoing pay dispute with the publicly owned company.
Eddie Dempsey, general secretary of RMT, said:
"Our members working in Network Rail now have the opportunity to choose whether to accept or reject this offer. We are a democratic organisation and ultimately it will be our members who make the decision."
The referendum opened today and will close on Thursday, 15 January.
