The Regional Transportation District (RTD) has announced service adjustments on the W Line today as Xcel Energy carries out a planned Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in parts of the Denver metro area.

The shutdown will affect W Line trains between Federal Center Station and JeffCo Gov’t Center•Golden Station. During this period, a bus shuttle will operate along the affected section to maintain service. Passengers should note that lighting, ticket vending machines, and fare validators at JeffCo Gov’t Center•Golden Station will also be out of service while the power is off. RTD explained that the disruption is linked to the location of traction power substations, which supply electricity to the rail system.

In addition, RTD is monitoring the A Line due to forecasted strong winds that may impact four commuter rail crossings. Several crossing arms on the A Line measure 32 feet or longer, making them vulnerable to high winds and potentially unsafe to operate. If sustained winds occur, service on the A Line will be reduced to a 30-minute frequency, with bus shuttles deployed to supplement travel.

RTD will continue to assess operating conditions and weather updates throughout the day and implement further service adjustments if necessary to ensure the safety of passengers and staff. Commuters are advised to plan ahead, sign up for Service Alerts, and check RTD’s website, Next Ride app, or social media channels for updates. Customer Care agents are also available for assistance with trip planning at 303.299.6000.
