ScotRail Boosts Services for Sold-Out Scotland v All Blacks Clash at Murrayfield
Scotland rugby supporters heading to Edinburgh for the sold-out Quilter Nations Series clash with New Zealand on Saturday, 8 November, are being urged to take the train as ScotRail bolsters services for the busy matchday. Kick-off at Scottish Gas Murrayfield is at 15:10, and demand for travel is expected to be high.
To support the expected influx of fans, ScotRail will run additional trains where possible and add extra carriages on key routes throughout the day. Enhanced services will operate in and out of Edinburgh Waverley, including the Fife, Perth and Borders Railway lines, making rail travel one of the easiest ways to reach the capital.
Haymarket station remains the closest railway hub to the stadium, with just a short walk or tram ride separating supporters from Murrayfield. After the final whistle, a designated holding area on Haymarket Terrace will help manage queues safely, with fans directed towards appropriate services home.
Supporters are being encouraged to plan ahead by purchasing return tickets in advance through the ScotRail app, online or via station facilities. Extra ScotRail staff will also be deployed to manage the busy travel period and provide customer support throughout the day.
Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “It’s always a special atmosphere when the Scotland team run out at Murrayfield, and this weekend’s sell-out crowd will make for another incredible occasion. We’re putting on more trains and extra carriages to make it easier for supporters to get to the game and home again after the final whistle. Travelling by train is the best way to soak up the matchday atmosphere, avoid the traffic, and enjoy a great day out cheering on Scotland.”
