Swan on the line halts trains between Broxbourne and Hertford East
Rail services between Broxbourne railway station and Hertford East railway station have been disrupted after animals were reported on the line, forcing all routes to be temporarily blocked.
The incident has been traced to a swan on the track in front of a train, bringing services to a halt while the situation is dealt with safely. As a result, trains in the area are facing cancellations, delays of up to 20 minutes, or last-minute alterations.
Network Rail has deployed a response team to the scene to remove the animal, with efforts underway to restore normal running as quickly as possible. Services are expected to resume shortly once the line is confirmed safe.
Disruption is currently forecast to continue until around 18:30, although passengers are being warned that services may still be subject to changes at short notice as operations recover.
Passengers holding Advance tickets are being given flexibility to travel on alternative services, including earlier or later trains, if their booked journey has been affected.
