Train Stabbing Suspect Hit with Further Attempted Murder Charges
Anthony Williams is due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on 19 November to face additional charges linked to the serious train incident at Huntingdon earlier this month. The 32-year-old, from Langford Road, Peterborough, has been charged with seven further offences.
The new charges come as British Transport Police (BTP) continues its wider investigation into Williams and the events leading up to the incident. Authorities are working closely with Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police, alongside the Crown Prosecution Service, to ensure all related offences are addressed.
Williams’ latest charges include the attempted murder of a 14-year-old boy at Henry Penn Walk, Peterborough, and the attempted grievous bodily harm (GBH) of a 28-year-old man at Viersen Platz, also in Peterborough. He is further charged with the attempted murder of a 22-year-old man near Pleasure Fair Meadow Road, affray and possession of a bladed article at Ritzy Barbers in Peterborough, theft of knives from an Asda supermarket in Stevenage, and the common assault of a 31-year-old man on a train between Hitchin and Biggleswade.
These offences are in addition to the previously authorised charges relating directly to the Huntingdon train incident.
BTP Deputy Chief Constable Stuart Cundy said:
“These are a significant set of new charges. Our investigation into the awful incident at Huntingdon has also focused on other offences previously reported to police or identified by our investigation. We have worked closely with our colleagues in Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Police alongside the Crown Prosecution Service to bring these charges. I would once again like to stress the importance of not saying or publishing anything which might jeopardise or prejudice ongoing criminal proceedings, or the integrity of the investigation."
