West Midlands Railway Reveals Quietest Days to Visit Birmingham Christmas Market

West Midlands Railway (WMR) has highlighted the best days to travel to Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market this year for those looking to avoid the busiest crowds. The annual market draws millions of visitors, with public transport often at capacity during the festive season.

By analysing three years of booking data, WMR has identified when travel into the city’s major stations is likely to be at its calmest. The quietest dates for 2025 are expected to be Wednesday 5 November, Friday 7 November, and Thursday 18 December. Travellers planning to visit early in November can enjoy less crowded trains, while those heading in just a week before Christmas on 18 December may also find a more relaxed journey.

Conversely, WMR predicts some of the busiest days to be Tuesday 25 November, Sunday 30 November, and Tuesday 2 December, with higher passenger numbers likely to result in fuller services.

Jonny Wiseman, WMR Customer Experience Director, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming visitors into Birmingham to enjoy all the festive events the city has to offer this Christmas. We expect trains to be busier than usual during this period, so please plan your journeys in advance and remember to be kind to staff and fellow passengers.”

The Frankfurt Christmas Market opens on 1 November, with the Christmas in Cathedral Square festivities launching on 7 November, providing a variety of festive attractions for visitors across the city.
