Improvement work is under way at Wivenhoe station as Greater Anglia upgrades the waiting room to improve comfort and facilities for passengers.

The programme of works includes the installation of new flooring, upgraded air conditioning and a new departure information screen. Seating within the waiting room is also being replaced, with plug sockets being added so customers can charge electronic devices while waiting for services.

Greater Anglia said the upgrades are being delivered in response to increasing passenger numbers at the station and are part of wider efforts to ensure station facilities continue to meet customer needs and expectations.

The operator expects the work to be completed by mid-February. While construction is taking place, disruption is expected to be kept to a minimum and alternative sheltered waiting areas will remain available for passengers.

Andrew Goodrum, Infrastructure and Projects Director for Greater Anglia, said:

“This is a significant upgrade of facilities at Wivenhoe station, which will ensure that passengers travelling through the station can wait in comfort and have easy access to real-time train running information in the waiting room. We are looking forward to delivering these improvements and would like to thank passengers for their patience while these works are being carried out.”
