ZDSimulator: ED4m Electric Train

The ED4m Electric Train DLC was developed and published by the ZDSimulator Team. It was released on 17 April 2025. The DLC is available only for the Windows version of the base simulator and requires ownership of ZDSimulator; there are no console or alternate‑platform ports listed.

This DLC adds the ED4M, a DC‑electric multiple‑unit commuter/regional train adapted for Ukrainian railway use, to the simulator’s roster. The implementation includes a detailed 3D model, realistic textures and livery matching regional standards, and a fully modelled driver’s cab. Technical features include 3 kV DC electrification, support for variable train lengths (from 4 to up to 12 cars), a top speed up to 130 km/h, and realistic traction, motor and auxiliary systems. The listing emphasised its 3 kV DC compatibility, full cab functionality, custom sounds and correct liveries — making it clear it’s intended as a serious simulation addition rather than a stylised or simplified vehicle. As part of the initial wave of rolling stock DLCs accompanying ZDSimulator’s re-release on the platform, the ED4M was offered alongside other trains and routes to provide a broad and diverse starting selection for players.

As of now the DLC has just a single user review on Steam, so formal consensus is minimal. From community discussion among rail‑sim fans, the ED4M is viewed with cautious optimism: many appreciate that the DLC adds a versatile, regionally authentic EMU well suited to commuter and regional traffic, and value the visual and technical detail. Others note that enjoyment depends heavily on having appropriate routes with 3 kV DC electrification and passenger‑focused timetables; without matching infrastructure and scenarios, the potential of ED4M may be under‑utilised.
