ZDSimulator: VL80k Locomotive

The VL80k Locomotive DLC for ZDSimulator was developed and published by the ZDSimulator Team and released on 6 December 2025. Like the base game, it is available for Windows and requires ZDSimulator to play. There are no alternate platform or console releases for this DLC.

This DLC adds the VL80K, a modernized AC electric freight locomotive, to the simulator. It features a highly detailed 3D model, a fully animated driver’s cab, realistic control systems, and accurate traction and auxiliary mechanics. The braking system is modelled after the real locomotive, including pneumatic and electro-pneumatic systems. The DLC allows players to operate heavy freight and passenger services on electrified mainlines, providing a realistic simulation experience consistent with the real-world VL80K.

Promotion was primarily through the official Steam store page, which highlighted the locomotive’s technical specifications, cab animations, and operational features. The DLC continues ZDSimulator’s approach of steadily expanding its locomotive roster with functional, realism-focused additions. It is fully compatible with multiplayer, free ride, scenario mode, and the level editor, allowing players to integrate the VL80K into all standard gameplay modes.

Community discussions indicate interest among players who value realistic AC electric locomotives and variety in their freight operations.
