Bridge Strike in Cardiff Causes Delays Between Cardiff Central and Newport
A vehicle collision with a bridge in the St Mary’s area of Cardiff is causing disruption to rail services between Cardiff Central railway station and Newport railway station.
Trains have been required to run at reduced speeds through the affected section while safety checks are carried out. The structure has been examined following the impact, but knock-on delays have developed due to congestion on the network.
Network Rail engineers are en route to the bridge to conduct a full inspection, with efforts underway to restore the normal timetable as quickly as possible.
As a result of the incident, services may be delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised, with disruption expected to continue until at least 20:15.
