c2c Railway has confirmed its support for this year’s Shoebury and Thorpe Bay Christmas Market, returning as sponsor for the festive event taking place on Saturday 6 December. The market will run from 10:00 to 16:00 at Shoebury and Thorpe Bay Baptist Church.

The annual celebration will raise funds for Southend in Sight, a local organisation providing advice and activities for people living with sight loss across the Southend area. Organisers are aiming to collect £1,500 through the event.

As part of its contribution, c2c has donated £500 alongside two tickets to Southend United’s fixture against Sutton United on 30 December, which will be included in a raffle to help boost donations for the charity.

The market will feature more than 50 stalls offering a range of gifts and local produce, as well as face painting, food stands and a Santa’s grotto. Families planning to meet Santa are advised to book in advance due to expected demand.

c2c Managing Director, Rob Mullen, said:

“We pride ourselves for being a community railway that is dedicated to helping our local communities in whatever way we can. That is why I am so proud that we are sponsoring this event once again, as the money it raises will go to Southend in Sight and help people in our local communities.”

Judy Hadley, Vice Chair & Treasurer of the Shoebury Residents Events Committee, said:

“The Shoebury Residents Events Committee is thrilled to share that c2c is once again sponsoring our beloved Christmas Market and Santa’s Grotto. Now in its fourth year, this magical event brings Christmas cheer to the whole community while raising funds for local charities through our Grotto and raffle. This year, we’re proud to support Southend in Sight. A heartfelt thank you to c2c for helping us make this season brighter for everyone!”
