The identity of a man found dead on the Metra Milwaukee District North line in Libertyville has been released by the coroner.

Allen Chiquini, 30, of Mundelein, was discovered along the tracks near Ellis Avenue and Winchester Road on Friday evening. Libertyville Police, Fire Department personnel, and the Metra Police Department responded at around 5:30 p.m. after a report of an unresponsive person.

Metra spokesperson Martha Hill said the crew of Train #2131, outbound from Chicago, first spotted a body on the tracks. “The train came to a stop and the crew did not know whether they struck Chiquini or not because it was dark,” Hill added. Paramedics later confirmed Chiquini was deceased at the scene.

Initial police investigations determined that Train #2131 had not struck him. The Lake County Coroner’s Office was called to take possession of Chiquini for an autopsy. Preliminary results indicate that he died from blunt force head injuries consistent with being struck by a train, according to Coroner Jennifer Banek.

The incident caused significant disruption to Metra services, with inbound and outbound train movement on the MD-N line halted near Libertyville. Hill said a total of seven trains were affected and customers travelling beyond Lake Forest were advised to seek alternate transport. Train operations returned to normal around 8:30 p.m. after the coroner’s office completed the removal of the body.

Police are continuing to investigate and are working to determine which train on the line struck Chiquini.
